Kinsmen Foundation is Keeping the Promise

You might say that being a member of the Kinsmen is a family matter for the Logues.  Terri Troupe-Logue, is a Zone representative and on the Board of Directors of the Kinsmen Foundation. She has been a Kinette for 9 years and on the Foundation board for a second year.  Her husband, Adam Logue, is Telemiracle 43’s Chair. They are gearing up for a big year when Saskatoon again hosts Telemiracle in March 2019. According to Terri, Adam has big shoes to fill in that last year was the biggest year ever with a whopping $7.1M raised. But, she admits, the Foundation then has the opportunity and privilege of spending it on worthy causes and meeting many needs over the entire province.

For St Ann’s, Terri became one of St. Ann’s biggest supporters after we applied for much-needed funds to put in ceiling lifts in all 80 rooms at the Home.

“When I read St. Ann’s application I went through it, and read it again. And then thought, I just have to go see them. My role is to work with applicants, then act as your representative and advocate on your behalf. And I see my role as doing my very best to get you what you need,” said Terri.

A visit to the Home is exactly what she did. “Visiting St. Ann’s Home brought me back to when my grandmother was in care in Prince Albert many years ago.  When I listen to stories of how people have to suffer the lack of dignity of not being able to use their bathrooms because they aren’t wheelchair accessible, my heart went out to them. I saw for myself what ceiling lifts in the rooms would do to add to the comfort, safety and dignity for all involved, staff included. I just want to do what is best for people. Meeting everyone there really struck home how caring everyone was at St. Ann’s, especially the staff.”

The Kinsmen Foundation provided $200,000 to purchase ceiling lifts that will be in all 80 residents’ rooms. This gift will allow for safe transfer of residents and will provide access to their bathrooms once room renovations are complete.

Thank you so much Kinsmen Foundation!
